Thursday, October 29th marks the second day of the New Communicators series of events. This is the day where you’re going to have to actually choose what events you want to go to since there are multiple events at the same time. We weren’t sure if this was going to be a problem when we started thinking of this series of events; it was one of those situations where we didn’t even know if there would be an event at every time. We’re not-so-secretly pleased to see so many events going on… plan your schedule and routes of transportation to cover as much ground and knowledge as possible.

Creating Conversations through the Love of Bicycles

8:00am to 10:00am / The Gerding Theater at the Armory
RSVP on Upcoming

Beyond Distraction: Millennials, Social Media, and Education

4:00pm to 5:30pm / The Art Institute of Portland: Open Space
RSVP on Upcoming

coming@party

6:00 to 7:00pm / The Art Institute of Portland: Open Space

Mid-Point Mixer hosted by Struck/Axiom and Simler

6:00 to 9:00pm / Struck/Axiom Studio

The Interactive Open

Wednesday, October 28th marks the first day of the New Communicators series of events. Since the announcement of the series, this day has been hidden in a fog: will people create events? what kind of events will there be? will people want to attend?

And through this cloudy mist, the New Communicators has shone like a beacon, guiding all those who were interested and wanted to contribute, to this day. So on that note, we’re proud to announce the first day’s events:

Youth Power: Speaking for the Future

8:00am to 10:00am / The Gerding Theater at the Armory
RSVP on Upcoming

Social Media Etiquette: We’ve got the technology, now what?

4:00pm to 6:00pm / The Rocking Frog
RSVP on Upcoming

Show and Tell PDX: What Are You Doing to Change the World?

6:30pm to 9:00pm / Substance World Headquarters
RSVP on Upcoming

And that’s just the first day. Check out the lineup for Thursday and Friday as well in the Event Schedule.

One Week Away

A little less than three months ago, a group of people sat down, had a cup of coffee, and came up with an idea.

Two months ago, this idea had a name: the New Communicators.

And now we’re a week away from this idea being put into action as a “three-day series of events intended to inspire and educate on new ways of communicating with people.” We’re beyond words at how generous people have been with their time, their knowledge, and their contribution through the organization of events, the offering of event space, and actively getting involved in the process of making the idea a reality. The range and depth of the programming to happen next week, all of which is free, is truly a dream come true and just one of the aspects that makes Portland a great place to live, work and create.

Who is a New Communicator?

New Communicators imagine a concept then choose a medium that’s appropriate. Technology is a tool to make ideas happen.
